Grace & Grit Farm and Rescue is a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility and 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Mineola, Texas — dedicated to giving native wildlife a second chance.
Long before Grace & Grit Farm and Rescue had a name, it began as my dream of dedicating my life to animals.
I attended San Diego State University as a pre-veterinary student and earned my bachelor’s degree in biology. But after becoming a mother at a young age, I spent nearly a decade in an abusive marriage where survival slowly replaced dreaming.
I eventually found the courage to leave and give my children the safe life they deserved. We walked away with almost nothing and spent time in a homeless shelter while I rebuilt our lives, put myself through graduate school, and became a 4th grade science teacher in small-town Mineola, TX. I wanted my children to see that even after losing everything, it is possible to begin again.
In time, I met my husband, Cody, who embraced my children fully and later adopted them as his own. Together, we built a home filled with the safety, love, and second chances we once desperately needed.
Along the way, my dream found me again. I began caring for injured, sick, and orphaned native Texas wildlife — one life at a time. That calling grew into Grace & Grit Farm and Rescue, a nonprofit devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing wildlife, with the dream of opening a full rehabilitation facility.
The name Grace & Grit tells my story. Grace carried me when strength alone was not enough, and grit kept me moving when starting over felt impossible.
